Endre Szirmai-Prize

In 1987, Endre Szirmai, professor of medicine and supporting member of the International Association of Hungarian Studies who lives in Germany, founded a prize for scholarly excellence in the field of Hungarian studies. The prize may be awarded to the scholar of any country and people.

The requirement for winning the prize is, on the one hand, the discovery (publication) of any hitherto unknown or unfound relic or source of Hungarian cultural or historical interest, and, on the other hand, any published scholarly work in Hungarian studies written in an international language of scholarship (English, French, German, Italian, Russian, Spanish). Here "Hungarian studies is understood in the widest possible sense.
